Recent and next Hope Valley dig days for 2026

In April, Peak District MTB volunteers helped National Trust rangers built a retaining wall to stabilise subsidence of the path. We were also joined by British Horse Society in the efforts, all with the support of the Park Park Conservation Volunteers.

Our next Hope Valley dig day planned for late June, on the classic bridleway below Derwent Edge heading down to Cutthroat Bridge, but was postponed (due to the very hot weather).

We had a further dig day near Mam Tor at the end of July, digging out pronounced ruts and consolidating the lines on the bridleway down to Hollins Cross.

Two further dig day will be run in collaboration with the National Trust Ranger Service to tackle a number of issues on the bridleway around Mam Tor to Hollins Cross. The work will include removing ruts and braided trails along with the usual drainage work.

We will be meeting at the bus stop/layby at 9:30am, see https://maps.app.goo.gl/YugihtMKuHWFJghn9

If travelling by bike or arriving later just wander along the bridleway towards Hollins Cross and you will find us.

Before these, another dig day is *provisionally* arranged near Hope Cross and Haggwater Bridge at the west end of Ladybower reservior, further details and confirmation to follow:

  • TBCLadybower – Thursday 15/10/2026TBC

Tools will be provided by the Rangers but feel free to bring your favourite mattock or spade! Also bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink and be prepared for inclement weather.

The Rangers need to know numbers as they need to maintain a ratio of volunteers to staff so please let us know if you are coming by emailing us at info@peakdistrictmtb.org

If you can’t make it along to any of the dig days, but want to support the work, then please consider donating to Peak District MTB.
