75 year old Alan Thomson needs helpers for his incredible challenge to ride all 19 Peak District enduro rides from this Saturday 26th August through to October 31st.
Can you help?
Alan is fundraising for local Buxton causes by riding all the White and Dark Peak enduro routes from the highly-regarded Vertebrate Publishing Peak District mountain bike guides at the grand old age of 75. He’d like people to join him on his rides to take photos and video footage, and of course for some mountain biker company.
The itinerary is on the Alan’s Challenge website and will be updated regularly with start locations and times for each ride.
- Alan will be starting this Saturday 26th September at 11am from the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton.
- On Sunday 27th September the ride will be leaving from the car park by the Green Man Gallery in Buxton, also at 11am.
- On Tuesday 29th up to 5 riders will join Alan at the Poole’s Cavern car park in Buxton at 11am
- On Thursday 1st Oct the filming will be outside of Greggs Bakers in Spring Gardens in Buxton. Along the route there will be a “Greggs” lunch for the riders and a “delivery” to an address in Flash. Yum!
Want to get involved?
If you can help out, please contact Alan to let him know and bring along your camera (GoPro-type, hand-held or mobile). Alan would like to have 5 riders for each route if possible. You will be provided with details of how to share any film or photos you capture.
Check out Alan’s itinerary for ride departure points and times for the rest of the challenge, but most rides will aim to leave at 11am. We hope you can help out even if just for one of Alan’s amazing rides.
Good luck Alan!
