Meet the Team – Greville Kelly

WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH PEAK DISTRICT MTB?

To represent mountain bikers from the north west of the Peak District and make a difference to the quality and number of trails which allow mountain bikers to access the Peak District.

FAVOURITE RIDE

Kinder loop incorporating Roych Clough and South Head of Kinder, it’s a classic ride with amazing views and some great high quality trails.

FIRST BIKE

A 1989 Carrera Krakatoa, black with yellow paint splatter and Farmer John tyres, customised with a variety of 1990s day glo accessories.

BEST MOMENT ON A BIKE

Too many to mention, however loads of great ride experiences around the peaks. Completing the 45 mile Glossop loop which includes Roych Clough, Chapel Gate, Edale Valley, Winnit Hill, Hagg Farm, Lockerbrook Decent, Derwent Reservoir, Cut Gate and finally the Longendale Trail. It’s a brutal, cramp inducing full day ride, but takes in many of the Peak Districts best mountain bike trails.

WORST MOMENT ON A BIKE

Bike packing Cader Idris in freezing cold, wet June weather and nearly getting hypothermia during the night!

ANYTHING TO CONFESS?

Nearly cycling into Hayfield’s finest, and the nicest man in Mountain Biking Nick Craig whilst heading down South Head of Kinder. I could have quickly become the most wanted man in mountain biking for all the wrong reasons!
