There has been a whirlwind of activity regarding Rushup Edge over the last week and a half. However we need to keep an eye on the bigger picture which is that Rushup is not the first nor will it be the last in an extensive program of recent trail maintenance.
Not all the maintenance has been done badly, but a lot has stirred up discontent from user groups such as us mountain bikers.
Our trail sleuth has been pulling together information on the trail maintenance undertaken so far across the Derbyshire Peak District and environs, but is not (yet) comprehensive and may still have some inaccuracies. The document can be viewed here and contains data on:
• Location of works carried out
• Who was responsible
• Cost
• Photos
We need your help
Can you help with this project?
We’re looking for:
• Before and after pictures
• Accurate grid references for works
• Any upcoming works you are aware of
• Any obvious omissions from this list
• Any other pertinent info
If you can provide any information please email us. We will pull it all together with a view to having an ongoing database of trails, maintenance and more. It will doubtless help our discussions with the authorties and other user groups if we have accurate information like this at our fingertips and you – the ones riding the trails – are our best assistants with this project.
